Shall we call it “Acute Self-Portraitite”? or is it healthy sarcasm?
Nothing much is known about these photographers, except that they specialized in carte-de-visite sized photographs (like this one). This photograph is sometimes identified as a self-portrait of De Torbéchet; it was published in the magazine L’Artiste, ca 1863.
I could only find their full names: Zacharie-Jean-Baptiste Torbéchet and Prosper-Denis-Edouard Allain and that, in 1863 they applied to patent a process perfectionning photographical microscopy (no wonder). Some of their thematic carte-de-visite can be seen here.
